Finding Cheap Internet Service Providers

Remember how just ten years ago, you could actually brag to your friends and neighbors about how you had broadband Internet service? They would look at you with envy. These days, we have cheap Internet service providers all over the place. Not only do you not get to brag about it anymore, you look downright old-fashioned if you don't have it.

The trouble with the ISPs is that like any other utility, they know that we really need them, and they do everything possible to milk us dry. well, we're here to tell you that cheap Internet service providers do exist, and you can find them if you use the right methods. These tips below should help.

There are literally dozens of providers of broadband services in any major city today. Even small cities have a very decent clutch of ISPs for you to choose from. What this means for you is that you get to deal with providers who are desperate to gain a customer. Their representatives will lie any which way if they feel they have to, to gain your custom. Often, you will sign a deal believing your bill will be a reasonable one, when in fact, the bill that arrives is completely different.

So what you need do is to make sure that you get any promises of pricing or features in writing. Conduct your negotiations over live Web chat or e-mail, and you'll have evidence to rub in their faces, too.

At some point, seemingly, every company tries to enter an arms race. They will chance upon something that can be reduced to a simple number, and they will all compete on that. The camera makers had their megapixels and it was quite meaningless. The music system makers had their watts and those meant nothing either. The Internet service providers compete on speed. We've long since crossed the stage where we need to worry about speed. Even the cheap Internet service providers these days, offer 15 Mbps. That's plenty for just about anything.

The problem is that no one likes to see their customers buy these cheap services. It's the way at McDonald's, they will usually try to hide the cheaper menu items by never printing them on the menu. It's up to you to ask for them. You'll easily save $10 or $15 a month with the cheaper plans. And you won't really notice any difference in speed either.

We've all read the article about how an elderly woman somewhere paid two dollars or five dollars a month to rent her old phone from the phone company, and how that's added up to thousands of dollars. Don't rent your modem. You only need to spend about $20 buying one.
