If You are Looking for a Cheap Vacation Idea

You do have to admit it. When you are on the lookout for a cheap family vacation idea, a trip out to a casino city isn't the first thing that comes to mind.

And yes, that's what thousands of families across the country are doing this year. With the express intention of saving money, they are planning vacations out to a casino city, if not to a casino itself.

It's a funny thing, the business model that casino promoters worked on. As the economy has slowed down, and as consumers cut back on their gambling more and more each year, the casino builders have been building more. And on a more lavish scale than ever before.

Their plan does seem to be working. Casinos have pulled in 3% more this year than last year.

If people aren't gambling last, why are the casinos pulling in more revenue?

They're pulling in more money because a lot of people are now thinking of a visits to a casino as a cheap vacation idea. A casino can be such a glitzy resort-like experience that people just want to go there to hang out. They stay in the hotel, they see a show, they go shopping, they eat out, and they go home. The casinos make money catering to all these activities. They may not pulling any money in at all on their gaming activities; but they sure are doing well with everything else.

The casinos are doing everything in their power of late to cement their place on travelers' vacation idea lists. They're cutting down hotel rates, and they are doling out freebies all around.
In Las Vegas for instance, hotel rates are down by about 10%. On average, you only pay about $70 for a night. On top of that, they give you a free $25 voucher for food and beverages. Things are even cheaper in Atlantic City. They throw in entertainment – at a major concert. It's the same in New Orleans, too.

If you're thinking of a visit to a casino as a cheap vacation idea, you do need to plan for everything. Not only should you look at all the discounts and freebies that you get, you should also look at any extras that they may plan to add to your bill – like a $25 resort fee for instance. They just add that on as to let you use all of the resort amenities.

If you really want the best price, do visit midweek when the rates are the lowest. And book as far in advance as you possibly can.
